This week I began working with the kids in groups of two on an iPad that was generously donated to HGH. Nothing cooler than seeing the looks on these kids faces as they watch the animation of a book being read to them or the swipes of their fingers create beautiful drawings. My goal is to use the iPad to help build technology skills of course but also to give them other resources for learning English and math. Favorite math apps are Moose Math which helps with counting, shape recognition, addition, and number recognition, and Hungry Fish which helps increase the kids speed at adding single digit numbers. We also do puzzles, play matching games, and color pictures. The kids also play music, style hair, and make food for monsters on some fun Toca Boca apps.

If anyone has any suggestions for free or inexpensive apps that would help with vocabulary, grammar, or math please let me know. I want to keep adding to the stockpile of Saturday app fun. I am horrible at remembering to take pictures but I will do my best to catch some of the kids in action next Saturday.
